This is a 2nd level industrial hydraulics training course developed for the maintenance technician. This training course is a logical next-step seminar after HYi-101 (POH) to increase your understanding of industrial hydraulics. It is recommended for plant maintenance personnel who have responsibility for the proper upkeep of industrial systems. Students work in the classroom and hands-on in the lab to develop their hydraulic component and circuit understanding and troubleshooting skills. This seminar will address methods for correcting some hydraulic shock related problems and the elimination of external leakage problems. Attendees will not gain admission without first completing the HYi-101 seminar or possessing equivalent post trades industry hydraulic training. Please contact us for more information.

Target Audience
Maintenance personnel learn proper methods of maintaining and troubleshooting industrial hydraulic systems

Length
4.5 days

Topics
  • Logical schematic reading and schematic circuit interpretation
  • Review fundamental hydraulic circuits used in many hydraulic systems operation and setup
  • Troubleshooting exercises to develop efficient hydraulic diagnostic skills
  • Why hydraulic systems get hot and what to do about excessive heat
  • Hydraulic fluid cleanliness and conditioning standards - the effects on system operation and reliability
  • Failure analysis of various components from hydraulic systems to determine how to increase reliability and reduce downtime
  • Understanding typical applications and proper set-up and troubleshooting of direct and pilot operated pressure control valves, relief, reducing, sequence and counterbalance valves
  • Understanding typical application and selection criteria of direct and pilot operated directional controls valves - spool and poppet design valves as well as pilot and drain requirements of pilot operated valves
  • Methods of actuator speed control via throttling and flow control with fixed and variable displacement pumps
  • Understanding typical applications as well as the operation and set-up of variable displacement pumps,“ understanding pressure type pump controls
  • Swashplate piston pump troubleshooting, replacement, commisoning and controller setup
  • Understanding the various forms of hydraulic related shock and problems it causes
  • External fluid leaks and how to eliminate them
  • Knowledge reinforcement with hands-on lab exercises
