HYi-202 Design Considerations for Industrial Hydraulics (formerly DCH)
HYi-202 Design Considerations for Industrial Hydraulics (formerly DCH)
Description
This 5-day training course is a must for plant personnel tasked with hydraulic system improvement or with the development of initial design concepts for a new hydraulic application. Students receive the tools they need to properly evaluate the load to be moved and controlled and to select appropriate hydraulic valves for this purpose. Classroom lecture and discussion will be balanced with various system component selection and sizing problems. Note: Students are required to bring calculators to this training course.

Target Audience
Advanced maintenance technicians and hydraulic project engineers will investigate the design of hydraulic systems and learn to properly select hydraulic components that will produce efficient hydraulic circuits and hydraulic circuits that properly control the machine or process

Length
4.5 days

Cost
2500 CAD

Topics
  • Investigation into hydraulic project design and system planning
  • Actuator (motor and cylinder) selection and sizing
  • Development of the circuit concept (open, closed, semi-closed circuit)
  • Hydraulic system foundational designs (reservoir design and sizing, fluid properties and selection, fluid processing devices and sizing (filters, heat exchangers etc))
  • Considerations in controlling the speed and (de)acceleration of hydraulic actuators - influence of fluid compressibility/natural frequency and hydraulic systems tendency to oscillate
  • Pressure control valve application, sizing and control options
  • Fixed and variable pump system considerations and selection criteria (fixed, variable, fixed/variable, fixed/accumulator systems)
  • Pumps application and sizing considerations
  • Variable displacement pump control possibilities and selection criteria
  • Circuit designs utilizing multi-function valves
  • Load control with pilot operated check valves and counterbalance valves
  • Directional control valve selection and sizing. Pilot and drain considerations with pilot operated directional control valves
  • Introduction to logic element (DIN slip-in valve) technology for direction, flow and pressure control
  • Introduction to the advantages, use and application of proportional directional control valves
  • Application and sizing accumulators for flow supplementing, shock absorption and power saving/recovery
  • Safety considerations in hydraulic system design will be highlighted throughout the duration of the seminar
  • The seminar will consist of a combination of classroom lecture, discussion and student work problems
  • Time will be spent in the lab to re-enforce the concepts discussed. (approximately 75% lecture, 25% lab)
Prerequisites
HYi-101 Overview of Industrial Hydraulics (formerly POH) - (HYi-101)

Students will gain admittance to this seminar ONLY after their successful completion of the Bosch Rexroth HYi-101 (POH) Seminar.
